Maserati Racing Tipo 331 1991

An interesting new arrival to our collection – a very rare Italian sports car for sale. One of only 230 produced for the Italian market exclusively. Powered by 2.0 V6 engine and 283 hp output, The Racing amazes with its performances today equally as in its production time.

Paint color choice was limited to red or black, and we have one in black metallic color to match the lovely black leather interior.

In excellent condition with exterior and interior very well preserved, this Maserati Racing is a very collectible sports car and a classic-to-be.

The Maserati Biturbo was a family of executive GTs by Maserati, produced between 1981 and 1994. The original Biturbo was a two-door 2+2 coupé with a luxurious interior and powered by a two-liter V6 engine with two turbochargers, rated at 180–205 PS (132–151 kW).

The Biturbo name was dropped when the car was significantly redesigned in 1988 in favor of 222, meaning 2-door, 2-liter engine, and 2nd generation. In December 1988, Maserati unveiled the most powerful variant of the two-liter models: the 2.24v, powered by the new four-valve head engine.
The Maserati Racing (Tipo 331) was presented in December 1990. This latest version of the Biturbo family received a restyling with a nose that was inspired by the Shamal, but the most important news came from under the bonnet.

Although based on the same two-liter engine presented two years earlier, with the 2.24v, several modifications were made: the crankshaft was new, the connecting rods were lighter, the compression ratio was increased, and turbochargers were modified.

The Getrag gearbox was new, and the car was fitted with intelligent active shock absorbers from Koni.

These modifications made the Racing the most powerful 2.0 production car in the world.

With a top speed of 256km/h and an acceleration from standstill to 1000 meters in only 25.9 seconds, performances of the Racing were excellent. Only 230 units were built from 1991 to 1992, and all were meant for the Italian market only.
